A Few New Thrifty Finds

Imagine my excitement when Mr. Redo and Elizabeth returned from an unexpected yard sale recently and brought me this ~

Does four of an item make a collection? Because I now have four thrifted watering cans, and I really like them!

They also got this - isn't it the cutest cookie jar? Reminds me of my olden days when I worked cross stitch ~

This past week Elizabeth and I stopped by the Goodwill - I am trying to stop my addiction and have at least cut down on my number of visits. All that aside, imagine my surprise when I came across this Jim Shore figurine for just $4.99 ~

and this one for $3.99 ~

Well, I did indeed feel very happy as I've always wanted some Jim Shore but never found any at a price I liked - until last week.
I'll probably keep these forever, I love them that much.

Have you done any thrifting recently? If so, what'd you find?

Hugs ~ Mary

  6. Oh wonderful finds. I love that cookie jar. I have been eyeing an owl one even though it in no way matches my kitchen but it just speaks to me.

  7. You really hit the jackpot this time. The cookie jar (the cookies look yummy) and watering can are cute. The Jim Shore pieces are precious and what good prices! Both are pretty but I love the last one with the bluebirds on her skirt. Thanks for the nice comment on my vintage kitchen things, Mary.-------------- Shannon

  9. Your Jim Shore finds are FABULOUS. You must know how extremely expensive those are! WOWSERS.

Oh yes, I can identify with "thrifting" addiction. Let's see. I went to a huge thrift store last Friday and an annual church lah lah yard sale on Saturday. My best finds were a rose-covered duvet cover which is already washed, dried and in use; a gorgeous baby quilt with all differently done hearts; and a sweet angel who is gracing my kitchen windowsill.

Thanks for the share of your treasures. The Jim Shore ones are fabulous. Susan

  12. Hi Mary,
I love your watering cans, they're so pretty. In my house 4 of anything is definatly a collection.
    The figurines are beautiful.
Hubby and I went thrift browsing last Friday and I found a round lap/table embroidery frame and a standing table rail frame in its own carry case. I was thrilled when we were told we could have the both for $10.I snapped them up.
    Have a good week

  13. Hi Mary! Your Jim Shore's are an amazing find for those prices. I have about 25 of his pieces. The first one is his "Kitchen Angel". Keep it in your kitchen for good kitchen luck and happiness.

  15. love your finds! i haven't picked up anything great lately except for a few pallets and one is a cool blue color....just haven't decided what to do with them yet...ohhh forgot, over the summer i picked up a neat chair from goodwill for less than 10 dollars because i want to try my hand at re-upholstering it! right now it's got a dusty blue velvet upholster (think 80's) and i'm wanting to do a zebra stripe with possibly bright red paint on the wood trim! looks good in my head lol

  21. Well you scored on all for of those. My latest thrift finds were a large snowman cookie platter and a sweet floral sugar packet holder, both with the tags still on, and only $1 each. The consignment shop was changing owners so there were bargains to be had. I've been on the lookout for angels myself, but I don't expect I'll end up with a Jim Shore. Those are wonderful! Lucky you.
